The establishment of the Regional Hub for Big Data in Indonesia is expected to strengthen cooperation and enhance Indonesia's influence in the Asia-Pacific region. Simultaneously, it aims to support accelerated modernization efforts and the utilization of big data for official statistics, with a reach that encompasses and engages statistical offices across the Asia-Pacific region. Activities include:
WORKSTREAM REMOTE SENSING
Webinars: The webinar provides an opportunity to bring together many parties and stakeholders to discuss the latest innovations and propose solutions for how big data plays a role in supporting official statistics, especially the utilization of remote sensing and geospatial data to support agricultural statistics. The theme of this webinar is Introduction of Remote Sensing for Official Statistics.
Workshop: The topic of the workshop is Introduction to Remote Sensing / Land Cover Classification using Remote Sensing. The overall objective of the week-long workshop is to help participants better understand the use and benefits of Big Data, specifically the utilization of Remote Sensing for Land Cover Classification. To that end, the workshop program will present methods, case studies, and processes that can support the Agricultural Statistics to identify the agricultural lands.
Research: The form of activity is Collaborative Research on Big Data Implementation for Agriculture Monitoring Using Satellite Imagery Analytics. The objective of this collaborative research project is to leverage big data and satellite imagery analytics to enhance official statistics for agriculture monitoring, focusing on selected crops, such as rice, rubber plantations, oil palm plantations, etc. This collaborative research project aims to improve official statistics for agriculture monitoring by harnessing the power of big data and satellite imagery analytics. The detailed design, timeline, expected outputs, and monitoring indicators ensure a structured approach to the research.
WORKSTREAM MOBILE POSITIONING DATA
Webinar: The webinar provides an opportunity to bring together many parties and stakeholders to discuss the latest innovations and propose solutions for how big data plays a role in supporting official statistics. The topic of the webinar is “From MPD to Official Statistics: A Journey”.
Seminar: The seminar provides an opportunity to bring together many parties and stakeholders to discuss the latest innovations and propose solutions for how big data plays a role in supporting official statistics, especially the utilization of mobile positioning data for tourism statistics.
Short course: The non-degree training program (Short Course) will be organized by Politeknik Statistika STIS in conjunction with the Education and Training Center of Statistics Indonesia, in partnership with several reputable universities throughout Indonesia. The principal aim of this short-course initiative is to deliver thorough and systematic instruction to technical-level personnel, equipping them with the proficiency to effectively analyze mobile positioning data, ultimately facilitating the production of official statistical reports.
Pilot Project: This activity takes the form of assistance in implementing Mobile Positioning Data (MPD) in one of the countries in the Asia Pacific region, namely Timor Leste. Timor Leste was chosen because there is an opportunity to collaborate with Telkomcel, one of the mobile network operators (MNO) in Timor Leste whose shares are partially owned by Telkomsel. Indonesia has collaborated with Telkomsel regarding the implementation of MPD for tourism statistics in Indonesia.
